One of my favorite uses of forced perspective at Disneyland California also involves the size of the buildings, but in a different direction. Reportedly, the buildings along the two sides, gradually shrink in height, on average, from the main entrance toward the castle, giving the impression of more length to the street. Conversely, when the guests are tired from a long day and walking toward the parking lot, the street appears shorter.

I used to think the sliding doors to the outside section would just break a plastic pin and swing open if a car hit them. Having them made out of styrofoam-like material makes much more sense - the impact is far less dangerous than with any form of metal. I would also imagine making them out of a soft material means, if any part of them were to fall on riders during an impact, it wouldn't be nearly as dangerous. Granted, hitting the wall would be pretty terrifying for the riders in any case... but still.

3:20 While it’s nothing new that Germany always gets ignored by North Americans, that concept was inspired by the Stuttgart tv tower which first introduced the combination of a transmission tower and tourist attractions like a spinning restaurant or a lounge in 1955.

My takeaway from this is that it is possible for Disney to use test tracks brakes to generate a miniscule amount of electricity to power something in the park, not something big but maybe like a single lamp in the station.

People don’t realize this. We all speak a different language even though it is the Queen’s English. From New York City to Brisbane and Liverpool to Toronto. We all communicate with the Queen’s English. Even though we communicate with the Queen’s English we do not understand each other on a mutual context. I look at the world through the lens of my experience. Are you affluent. I am not affluent. You have enough money to pool together with your friends in high school to hire a taxi. This is cheaper than five kids paying $2.25 each for the same distance. I end in Ottawa. I have never hired a taxi in my entire life. Yet those same five friends are from my high school. I am saving for a stereo receiver too. I don’t take public transit to save enough money from my meager allowance for a stereo receiver. I walk everywhere to save money for a stereo receiver. That stereo receiver is more important to me. My friends are more affluent. They know how to hail a taxi. I have no friends. Am I anti-social. I am not anti-social. I stay away from people because they can get you into all sorts of trouble. A girlfriend can claim you are the father for example. The wrong friends can try to sell you methamphetamines to pay for their addiction. We all speak the Queen’s English. We don’t share the same experiences. Karen came from I enjoy watching movies reading non-fiction and listening to music. These activities do not involve friends. Sports require friends and going to the school dance requires a girl who won’t get embarrassed when a black or Asian boy approaches a shy white girl. All her friends will snicker. You are 13 years old. It’s your first time. I retreat inward. Now I can’t approach Karen because I don’t know the right social cues and protocol. A social protocol is knowing how to dress for the school prom. What to wear to a wedding. How to throw a stag party for your best friend who is getting married. He asked Peter to be the best man. Peter doesn’t know the right protocol. I never hailed a taxi. How was I supposed to know that if the light is on that the driver is taking a fifteen minute break. So he yells at me. The Harry Chapin girlfriend in the middle attack was planned and deliberate. That was in Ottawa 1975

Good basic explanation of Catapult systems. How about getting to the real dynamics of how catapult operations really work. Starting with the hydraulic / pneumatic systems below decks? Could you provide a “in depth” diagram explanation of Steam & Hydraulic flow prior to launch? And how exactly the Rotary Retraction Engine works in conjunction with the “Grab” assembly? Also curious how the Water Brakes stop the pistons so quickly after launching so fast. I think that would be helpful info the rest of the population would like to know.
